LOCAL SUPPER CLUB
The Local Supper Club is a not for profit collaboration of chefs cooking with the best ingredients PEI has to offer with the ultimate goal of giving 100% of the profits to a local charity.
The Local Supper Club idea was dreamt up by Local Chefs Hunter Guindon, Lucy Morrow and Logan Rafuse.
Most of everything is donated. Island food suppliers are incredible and love to help in the best way they can to get as much of the price of the tickets to the charity. The whole project is completely full of love and giving.
The creation of each menu is unique and created by the new group of chefs for that months event.
I always believed that you are given a gift to do good things in your community and in this world. This is an excellent example of using your gift for doing that. What an incredible project.
Items in the menu are chosen based on items in season. Once the menu is created, it is served to all who are lucky enough to join the supper at the giant family style table.
The August menu included the following incredible local curated and created items:
DUCK coffee cured duck | pancakes smoked honeycomb | goat cheese
FARFALLE: red onion | celery | rhubarb honey vinaigrettte
CHANTERELLES: wild mushroom | corn & bacon succotash
HALIBUT: salt baked | sugar snap peas marrow honey butter | beach greens
BEEF: smoked blue dot beef cheek |burnt honey hasp jus | legacy garden vegetables
PINEAPPLE WEED: sour cream honey gelato upside down cake | pineapple weed syrup
The proceeds that are raised from the supper are then donated to local charity of the month. To date Local Supper Club has donated more than $6500 to island charities, since its first event in December 2018.
I have personally never seen so much respect and creativity among chefs as i do during these events. Each chef cheers each other on, with excitement for the dish they have created.
If you have a chance to join one of these typically sold out suppers, I would highly recommend doing so! You will not regret the food or knowing that a large percentage of your ticket price will go to a local charity.
